Setup for Mac Users

Before you can view listings downloaded from RE/Xplorer on your Palm device, you must first install the List application on the Palm handheld, which you will use to view downloaded listings. Then you must install the LinkDb for Mac OS application, which you will use to convert the listing data from RE/Xplorer to a Palm handheld database file (*.pdb).

  1. Click here to download the List application to your computer in a "listlite.zip" archive. When the download is complete, you will see a message that a program could not be found to open the archive. Select a program from the list presented, such as Stuffit. The files will then be extracted to a folder titled "listlite."
  2. After the List application is placed on your computer, you need to install it to the Palm Desktop Software. Open the Palm Desktop application from the Palm folder. Select HotSync > Install Handheld Files from the menu bar. Click the Add to List button and then select the list.prc file from the List folder. The List application will be loaded to the Palm handheld the next time you perform a HotSync function. Close the Palm Desktop organizer software.

  2. The listing data will download as a PLM file to your hard drive. If you do not have a specified download folder for your browser, you will be prompted to choose a save location.
  3. Now you must convert the PLM file to a Palm handheld database file (*.pdb). Run the ListDb for Mac OS application by selecting it from the listdb4mac folder. Now open the text file you saved in the last step by selecting File > Open on the menu bar. You'll see the one-line listings view of the listings you downloaded from RE/Xplorer.
