To download and install the update program:

  1. Verify your current version of Landmark Database (2.06 is required). On the menu bar in the Landmark Database program, click on Help > About.
  2. Choose the type of download:
  • Self-Installing Update File

Use this file to update the copy of Landmark Database on the same computer on which you’re doing the download.

  • Create Update and Save to Diskette

Use this method when you must update a copy of Landmark Database running on another computer.

Self-Installing Update File

  1. Click on Database2.07.exe.

  2. The File Download dialog box displays. Select the radio button for saving the file to disk, and click the OK button. (Skip to step # 3 if you have previously downloaded from Netscape Communicator, this dialog box may not appear)

  3. The Save As dialog box displays with the name of the download file in the File name field.
  4. Use this dialog box to save the file to your computer’s hard disk. For example, if you want to save the file to the default Landmark directory, type c:\Landmark\ before the file name, so it reads c:\Landmark\Database2_07Update.exe (please note the name of the folder that contains this file for retrieval).

When you’re done selecting the destination of the file, click the Save button to download the file.

  5. After you’ve downloaded the file, use Windows Explorer to find the file on your hard drive. Open Windows Explorer by clicking the Start button on the task bar, then select Programs > Windows Explorer. Find Database2_07Update.exe in the directory where you saved it earlier, and double-click the file to run the update.

Create Update and Save to Diskette

  1. Click on LMDB207DiskVer.exe.

Use this dialog box to save the file to your computer’s hard disk (later you’ll copy the update program to a diskette). For example, if you want to save the file to the default Landmark directory, type c:\Landmark\ before the file name, so it reads c:\Landmark\LMDB207DiskVer.exe (please note the name of the folder that contains this file for retrieval).

  4. When you’re done selecting the destination of the file on the hard disk, click the Save button to download the file.

  5. After you’ve downloaded the file, use Windows Explorer to find the file on your hard drive. Open Windows Explorer by clicking the Start button on the task bar, the select Programs > Windows Explorer. Find LMDB207DiskVer.exe in the directory where you saved it earlier, and double-click the file.

  6. A PKSFX dialog box displays, ready for you to copy the update program to diskette. Place a blank formatted diskette into your floppy drive (A:\). Then click the Finish button. The PKSFX program will then "extract" the update program to the diskette. When the process is done, a message displays saying "Extraction complete." Click the OK button on the confirmation message box. Label this diskette "Landmark Database 2.07 Update Disk."

  7. Now insert the diskette containing the update program into the A:\ drive of the computer where you need to run the update. Click the Start button on the task bar, select Run, and in the Run dialog box type A:\Setup.exe. Click the OK button to start the update process.
