The following outlines an explanation of why AOL, MSN and
other proprietary ISP's may have difficulty connecting or
maintaining connections to RE/Xplorer sites.
The AOL and MSN browsers and Portals are proprietary. They
use a standard that is tangent to the norm. These conglomerate
ISP's are using internal e-mail functions and software that
is not "open sourced", or available to 3rd party
vendors and programmers.
What this means is as follows:
RE/Xplorer Development has open issues with these ISP's. They
are moving forward with this implementation as soon as they
design the fix. We understand the concerns of the REALTORS
and their clients who are using AOL or MSN, however, the system
must first be designed to conform to Internet standards. Once
this has been accomplished, step by step, it can be made to
work with proprietary ISP's (i.e. AOL, MSN, Earthlink, etc.).
At this time, FNIS does not recommend using the AOL or MSN
browser for accessing RE/Xplorer. To improve performance,
follow these steps:
- Connect to AOL or MSN.
- Once you have connected, minimize AOL or MSN.
- Click Start, then Programs. Select Internet Explorer.
- Type in the address for RE/Xplorer in the Address bar.
Using the Internet Explorer browser installed with your Operating
System should give you a more stable and speedy connection.

The following Issues regarding AOL e-mail and RE/Xplorer
are being addressed by our programmers.
Some users are finding that when sending e-mails to AOL or
MSN email addresses, the link to a published report does not
work. In some cases, the link is cutoff at the end of a line,
in others the link simply does not work.
A temporary workaround for this problem is to send the listing
link to yourself, then copy and paste the link into a new
e-mail message. Send the message to the desired recipient(s)
from your own e-mail program. If the link has been truncated
(cutoff at the end of the line), simply instruct the recipient
to copy and paste the link into their browser's address bar.
Some users have reported that when sending emails to several
recipients which include AOL users, the AOL addressees are
not receiving the message.
